"Should we be afraid of another Trump term, I’m not sure. It’s worth asking how much worse global affairs can get after watching Biden’s foreign policy shit show for nearly 4 years."
Why fear Trump's foreign policy?
He knows Iran is a terrorist regime that cannot and should not be appeased. He knows North Korea is run by a dictatorial madman. He knows Russia is an enemy. He knows we have enemies, that they do not share our values or think as we do, and that they do understand and react to strength and weakness. If only Biden would see these things and abandon his kumbaiyah, "can't we all just get along" philosophy.
Trump knows Israel is the US' best ally in the Middle East. He moved the Embassy to Jerusalem. His Abraham Accords resulted in four Muslim countries normalizing relations with Israel (which would have resulted in any other President getting a Nobel Peace Prize). And the Saudis might have signed on already if Biden hadn't screwed things up so massively.
He started no new wars. Russia invaded Ukraine after seeing how weak and indecisive Biden is. China laughs at the US and appears to be poised to take action against Taiwan - IMHO because Biden is eminently ignorable.
Trump is not likable. He is egotistical, bombastic, and he does not speak cautiously or circumspectly. But he does not project weakness or a willingness to appease our adversaries. His track record is solid.
Some might point to things he has said that alienated our allies - but at least he didn't abruptly pull out of Afghanistan leaving our allies in the lurch and abandoning not only those who supported and helped us there but even US citizens as well. (Not to mention Biden allowing our enemies to take possession of military assets and weapons.)
I do not believe there is a rational reason for the fear some express over a potential Trump return to the Whitehouse. I would remind people that, though Trump is crude and "uncultured", the choice is not between Trump and some mythical perfect presidential candidate - it is him or Biden (or someone continuing Biden's failed foreign policies).
Hey Steve, thanks for your perspective here. I think a lot of these are good points. I agree he has a record we can analyze on foreign policy and I agree it's not nearly as scary as the Left in America keeps trying to convince us it is.
I worry about the trafficking in antisemitism for political expediency. That said, I think right now antisemitism is far more mainstream on the Left then on the Right at this point in time. https://maccabeenation.substack.com/p/time-for-jews-to-vote-for-trump I write about it here if you want to check it out.
What still concerns me is Donald likes to dine with Kanye and Nick Fuentes. Now Trump can say he didn't know who he was, but how as the President do you not know who you're meeting with? I worry where there's smoke there's fire.
Again, like most Americans, I'd prefer not to vote for either candidate.
I don't understand the distinction you're making behind antisemitic "Hollywood types" and "antisemitic policy makers." Please save your self righteous indignation for somewhere else.
“We must accept our inability to ever convince these people that Israel is fighting a just war with facts, figures, and logic. We must ignore these people who want to see us exterminated. They don’t get a vote in how Israel defends herself. Ignore them.”
This is so true! Just ignore them and concentrate on strengthening ourselves both physically and spiritually.
I agree with you on the majority of your statement. I am not arguing with you now, but EVERYTHING is partisan (caps for emphasis, not yelling. When you interview a journalist they are partisan by nature of job. It is impossible for a human to be truly and independently objective. Just as true scientists acknowledge, once you observe behavior, you change behavior, regardless of how insulated you might think yourself to be. Journaists always have a point to sell -regardless of political persuasion- therefore cancel any presumed “true objectivity”. Same with political partisanship, cannot be done.
Anyway, I do find your perspective/beliefs interesting and respect your freedom of speech, even though I may not agree with it(or might?).
Sure you do. You had written about Kanye and Fuentes and your concern about that association, yet are silent about Biden and other democrats “friends”. That is my point. And, to compare anti-semitism left vs right is ridiculous. I know you have been paying attention to school (not just college) vile activities since October, capital hill reps (squad, et al) general public in urban areas, bastions all of left, dreams of fascism. Far far right true, but minute compared to the Crystalbacht lovers who have come from the depths if slime.
My intent was not to malign you, I clearly have a very different and heartfelt opinion.
I do not sit on barbed wire fences, find that to be extremely painful.
Left wing antisemitism has become mainstream and is a problem, but that doesn't negate the fact there are far right nationalists who wear the Nazi uniform on the right as well. Voting for Jews in America is a tough business. We all have opinions, let's have an intelligent conversation about the candidates and the policies and leave the partisan BS at the door.
Seriously? You call yourself a journalist. Were you in a coma during Trump’s presidency.? Geez, sham of an attempt to hide from the brainless “moderates” your Biden apologies for creating a complete shambles and moral vacuum in the world.
He urged Z to plunge his nation into a war they cannot win, ever. Afghanistan I imagine you consider an American success story of presidential cowardice and treachery. Iran, yeah, he has them held back in abeyance. The world kaughs at us with this hollow man. I can see why someone like you is so conflicted. No wars, semi-world peace, Iran in check, Putin quiet, etc. Versus Biden’s corrupt regime selling out the world for personal profiteering.
Really, come on man, as your hero mumbles and whispers so eloquently.
First off William, you don't know much about me. Second, I don't consider myself a journalist. I write editorials (opinion pieces) and interview actual journalist and experts on various topics. I encourage you to read some of my other stuff, and to slow down before you jump to conclusions about people. We should be able to get to a place where people can disagree and debate a specific policy as opposed to attack each other personally.

You might want to apply your double standard both ways. The two you mention are Hollywood types, not policy and decision makers for the country.
How about Clyburn the racist, Byrd who aspired Joe to the heights of racism and antisemitism, waters, Schumer.
You should know better.

Thanks for reading Liba. I enjoy your substack :)
I wish The EU would just GET REAL about Ukraine. If Ukraine falls so does the EU. I wish they would just GET REAL about that conflict.
Thank you for your coverage, this morning. Great work!
Thank you for reading!
Thank you. I look forward to more provocative thought exchange!

You too.
Fair enough.
It looks like Biden is officially out. I hope we get to see a speed primary so we get the best possible candidate. You know... because democracy.

My apologies.
https://maccabeenation.substack.com/p/time-for-jews-to-vote-for-trump Not only am I critical of Biden and democrats in this editorial, but extremely vocal and critical in past ones as well.
