I think all citizens should contribute to the safety and in this current war, the survival of the State of Israel. It might be helpful to create a level system of threat, when it reaches critical point, that all are required to serve. You may already have this. The USA has a system of Threat Assessment and different things happen with each level.

Regardless, all citizens should contribute in civil service a portion of their lives. I propose this for the USA too. As we've seen, there is a serious disconnect from too many in the younger generations who do not even know their grandfathers fought and sacrificed greatly to defeat Nazi Germany. L

Israel has options for civil service and a process for conscientious objectors. I think most Israelis would be happy if they did any type of civil service for a similar amount of time to show the burden is being shared equally. That said, I wrote this editorial from a secular perspective. If this continues to be a hot topic people want to know more about I will find someone with a different perspective to interview in the future so people can hear the other side.

Good topic. Good luck 🍀 It’s a complex issue I’m sure and needs hashing out. We have several “cans that have been kicked down the road” too long too. And yes, we are coming up short too. We may have to institute national service in the near future or face another draft when the soon to hit the fan shit arrives soon.
